HELP TOM SAVE GORSEINON HOSPITAL
Swansea Bay University Health Board is considering moving all inpatient beds from Gorseinon Hospital to Singleton Hospital. Tom Giffard has requested a meeting with the Health Board and wants you to make your voice heard by signing the petition overleaf.
The much-loved Gorseinon Hospital is a community facility that plays a crucial role in providing step-down care for patients who are not yet well enough to return home, but who do not require full hospital care.
Swansea Senedd Member Tom Giffard said:
“Gorseinon Hospital is such an important facility for local people, and to see all its beds potentially centralised in Singleton would not only be a blow to this community, it would also, in my view, undermine care for those who need it most.
“And whilst this is currently being considered only as a temporary measure, we have seen from experience elsewhere that this can very easily become the first step towards a more permanent arrangement.”
Tom added:
“That’s why I’ve asked to meet with Swansea Bay University Health Board to understand these plans and make clear the feelings of the local community on this proposal. I’ll also be raising this issue with the Welsh Government, as they are ultimately responsible for the NHS in Wales.
“But I need you to add your voice to those who oppose these plans, to show the Health Board and the Welsh Government just how important this hospital is to local people.
“You can do so by filling out the petition overleaf and returning it to my office at 80 High Street, Gorseinon. Alternatively, you can sign it online at tomgiffard.co.uk/savegorseinonhospital. Your voice could make all the difference!”
